I thought there's a break from all the hardships that I had been suffering throughout my life. But, after a week or two, I realized that instead of getting psychologically well, I happened to face more panicking situations in my surroundings. Whenever I went outside to shops or medical stores, I witnessed several guards investigating human temperatures. The environment made me realize as if I'm going through everything. Eventually, after constant observation and overthinking, a composition was framed in my mind. -

During the lockdown, every single person at my home was concerned and followed social media for keeping themselves updated about the corona situation and its impacts. It was a major topic under discussion! So, I thought that I should illustrate it rather than just debating with myself. I tried to state a story and a narrative through my imaginative painting. There is an expression of two extremes, ones who don’t care and those who are so panicked!

I have tried to study The female figure head here is in strict profile (as the pose, rarely varied in portraits) but, the rest of the body is half turned towards the viewer. The figure has got a dark background giving it a more prominent appearance surrounded by plants/flowers which was also an important subject matter in miniature style. Also, the thick border is in floral arrangement having light subtle colors. Overall, the work is a blend of contrasting colors. -

This painting talks about the current pandemic situation where everything is at a state of being dangerously likely to fall or collapse. Everyone is continuously anxious because of ongoing uncertainty. People are trying to grasp some hope and trying to imagine a better future. -

The painting shows a view of a classroom, where multiple children are present wearing face masks (at school). It has also got a very dark brown background with hanging sticks as if a game is being played. There's only one person to handle the entire game, just like a solo show. I have linked the idea of plan-demic with children because they have got more interest in gaming rather than studying/studies. -

My idea is to welcome the viewer into the street life of ————— at night. The artificial lights glimmering, casting sharp shadows in the absence of natural light has made our nights very colorful and happening. I want the viewer to enjoy the sharp contrasts, the lights and the ethereal quality of colors it has just as much as I did while painting it. -

The Persian tradition of richly decorated borders framing the central image shows a male figure in minimal and stylized form. I have tried to study a modified form of the Persian convention where the sky and land seem like one at a viewpoint. The Mughal Miniature style here shows a strong feature of realistic portraiture, normally in profile, and influenced by western prints.
